Judy Nguyen, PhD, LPC

Judy Nguyen is the founder of Nguyen & Associates Counseling Center, LLC. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, Masters of Arts degree in Counseling and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology.

As a clinician, Judy has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, seniors, couples and families. She provides individual, couples, family and group therapy. She has experience working in a psychiatric unit working with clients/patients who suffer from schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar, PTSD, and major depressive disorder.

Her area of interest includes treating grief/loss, depression, anxiety, stress, domestic violence issues, ADD/ADHD, autism, acculturation issues, parenting, and marital problems.

She has conducted and facilitated many youth groups to help students with acculturation, identity development, improve communication skills, relationship development, conflict resolution, career advancement, positive action and much more (within Alief ISD and Houston ISD areas). She also enjoys training new clinical interns as well!

Mandy Lee, M.Ed., LPC 

Life presents many challenges, and her goal as a therapist is to help people navigate and develop positive strategies to cope with these challenges. She started her first career in corporate communications, which allows her to build an extensive experience in listening and developing strong relationships.

She has worked in hospitalization programs, conducting group, family, couple, and individual therapy. With these experiences, she focuses on the individualized treatment plan catered to the patient’s needs. Her therapeutic approach includes Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy.

She has enjoyed working with children from preschool to adolescence and has conducted workshops catered to their needs, particularly on school-related anxiety, family relationships difficulties, communications, and depression. She has also worked with parents to manage expectations and communications with the younger generation of children.

She is an effective multi-lingual and can converse in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

Phuong “Madie” Luu, M.S, M.L.A, LPC (Intern)

Madie obtained her B.A. degree from the Baylor University, her M.L.A in Political Science and M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, Texas.

Madie is currently an office manager and a clinician at Nguyen and Associates Counseling Center. Madie works with clients who are suffering from mental health issues, such as addiction, ADHD, depression, grief, bipolar, personality disorder, schizoaffective, and substance abuse.

During her practicum at West Oak Hospital and NACC, Madie worked with clients who have vast ethnic backgrounds and whose age range from 5 to 75. Madie utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.

Madie decided to pursue a career in mental health counseling when she recognized the need for mental health counselor for the minority community, especially in the Vietnamese community.

Madie’s personal goal is to promote mental health awareness while dispelling the negative stigmas within the Asian communities. During her free time, Madie gives back to the community by volunteering at Christus Foundation and Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth.

Prior to pursuing her counseling licensure, Madie is a former AmeriCorps member under the C.A.S.E program, a long-term substitute teacher for Houston ISD, and a project manager for TechTrans International, where she worked closely with a program manager from NASA and the US Department of Defense on various global projects.

She is also a Vietnamese interpreter for various national companies that provide interpreting and translation services to public sectors, including hospitals, police stations, 911, and banks.
